The School
Based Family Support Program provides supportive
services to families of students attending
specific Catholic Schools in the Camden Diocese.
These services include the following:

Assessment
-
Consultation and collaboration with parents,
guardians, and educators
- Home
visits
- Brief
counseling
-
Advocacy
-
Referrals to community resources
-
Student and parent groups
The staff
of the SBFS Program, with client consent,
collaborates with other service providers such
as physicians, the Division of Youth and Family
Services, and Child Study Teams.
Masters
level Family Support Specialists are individuals
who posses a master's degree in social work,
counseling or a related mental health
discipline. These specialists provide brief
counseling to children and families and also
offer after-crisis intervention services.
Our
bachelors-level Family Support Specialists
provide case management linking families with
services in the community and offering
educational services such as parenting classes.
Referrals
to the SBFS program can be made by teachers,
principals, parents, students, Child Study
Teams, and other service providers in the
community. Family participation in the program
is voluntary.
The SBFS
Program receives funding from various grants,
the House of Charity, and private fees. There is
no charge to families receiving services.
The SBFS
program provides services in schools within the
Diocese of Camden
that elect to participate in the SBFS program.
We are currently providing services in 12
diocesan schools.

SERVICES:
The School Based Family Support Program has
initiated the provision of comprehensive
bullying prevention services in schools. We us
the pioneering work of Dan Olweus, a leading
international researcher in bullying for the
past 30 years.
